Due to a problem with Northam Community Hall on 08/01/24 we will commence training in Northam hall which is just up the road on the junction of Heywood Road and Fore Street.
Rather than two separate lessons all students will now train together in the same class between 1730hrs and 1830hrs.
This is the way both our Dolton and Torrington Classes run and it works really well.
The venue is also far superior to Northam Community Hall and more suited to our needs.

Adult students (14 years old and above) can choose to study one or several of our syllabus. Usually a student starts with Kickboxing and adds in other skills that they want to learn as they become more experienced. Adult lessons generally consist of learning new techniques, Padwork, Fitness and Sparring or Grappling. Grading is optional but encouraged.
Child students traditionally start their training with our Kickboxing syllabus and some low level self defence. The child syllabus is the same as the adult syllabus but the standards expected are lower. Between the ages of 12-14 years old, depending on ability, they will move on to the adult syllabus. Children's classes consist of learning new techniques, Padwork and Fitness. Grading is optional but encouraged.
Gradings are optional however are encouraged within the club. We operate a progressive grading system for both adults and children. This involves the student being given a grading sheet and each lesson they will be taught techniques from it. Once they are capable of demonstrating a technique with no mistakes it is signed as complete. When a student completes an entire sheet, a grading fee is payable and they are awarded a belt and certificate and move on to their next grading sheet.
Adult Black Belt Gradings are the only grading that is conducted formally where the student will be expected to demonstrate the entire syllabus in front of an assessing instructor.
The Kickboxing syllabus consists of Padwork, Sparring, Fitness and Self Defence Techniques.
Kick-Jitsu is a combination of Kickboxing and Jiu-jitsu. It consists of Kicking, Punching, Knees and Elbows along with throws, armlocks, leglocks and chokes.
The Freestyle Martial Arts syllabus is a combination of Kickboxing, Karate and Jiu Jitsu. It consists of combinations done to the air and to pads as well as throws and locks.
The Self Defence syllabus combines physical self defence techniques with theory training about the law relating to its use. In addition a bullying awareness class for children and parents is also available.
The Freestyle Karate syllabus is a modern take on Karate. It consists of techniques and combinations done to the air and to pads but the requirement to perform lengthy Kata and to learn Japanese terminology has been removed.

Because all children develop differently we do not set a minimum age, Some young children have proven to be really able while others of the same age have not. Your first lesson with us is a free trial to see if the training is suitable for your child.
There is no need to book your free trial. Come along join in and see of we are right for you.
We don't have a club uniform. Students are advised to train in loose fitting clothing that you find comfortable for physical activity. We train bare foot and advise you to bring a drink.
A student is required to join us after 3 sessions in order that they are correctly insured to train. Before that your first lesson is free and your next 2 lessons will be £5 each.
No. Any student of mine is free to study any style or combination of styles they wish. I structure my lessons in such a way that students working on different styles and levels are put into groups and I teach each group according to what they want to learn.
